Information

Chainmail hauberk

Hauberks are known in Denmark from approx. 350 BC and in the Middle Ages they are also a permanent part of the armor.
The hauberk are made up of thousands of flat rings, riveted together in a pattern of one ring with rivets sometimes assembled with four fixed rings without rivets. The construction makes the armor lightweight and provides freedom of movement, while at the same time resisting cuts, chops, and distributing power from the impact into the rings.
The hauberk develops in the 13th century to also have a firm hood and mitts. Later, the chainmail is used to cover crevices and joints in the plate armors.
